Maine joins the UIDDA

Unless you are an out of state attorney trying to serve a subpoena in Maine the Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act (UIDDA) means nothing to you.

The process to get an out of state subpoena domesticated in Maine was expensive, cumbersome and confusing. I am not going to cover the history or specifics except to say because Maine joined the UIDDA does allow out of state attorneys a much easier path to getting their out of state subpoena domesticated..

There are of course caveats in that some of the Maine 16 counties have little to no experience in the domestication process.
